The novel Things Fall Apart (The World of Books)

The novel depicts the life of Okonkwo, a local wrestling leader and champion in Umuofia, one of a group of nine fictional villages in Nigeria inhabited by the Igbo (in the novel Igbo). It describes his family, personal history, and customs of Igbo society, and the influence of the British Empire and Christian missionaries on Igbo society during the late nineteenth century.
